Felix Zwayer to Officiate Arsenal vs. PSG Champions League Clash Amidst Past Controversy

German referee Felix Zwayer has been appointed to take charge of Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Zwayer’s selection comes with a backdrop of past controversy. It has been reported that he was previously suspended from refereeing for six months due to his involvement in a match-fixing scandal, where he confessed to accepting a 300 Euro bribe.

The incident also gained notoriety when Jude Bellingham, during his time at Borussia Dortmund, reportedly referred to Zwayer as a “match-fixer” in a game against Bayern Munich.

Despite this contentious period early in his career, Felix Zwayer has since risen to become one of the respected referees in German football. The Wednesday match between Arsenal and PSG will mark his 37th Champions League game and his debut as a referee in the semi-final stage of the prestigious tournament.
