Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has voiced his opinion that the winner of the Europa League should not automatically gain entry into the following season’s Champions League.
“The club that wins the Europa League should only be qualified to participate in the Europa League again,” Wenger stated.
He further elaborated, “Especially if the club comes from a league that already has five teams participating in the Champions League, they should not be allowed to enter.”
Manager Arsène Wenger urged UEFA to reconsider and revise its regulations regarding this matter.
Wenger’s comments come amidst discussions about the possibility of Manchester United, the current Europa League contenders, potentially qualifying for the Champions League by winning the secondary European competition.
