In a truly inspiring display of integrity, Ahmedin Hassan, a driver for the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in the Afar region, has demonstrated remarkable honesty by returning 225,000 Ethiopian Birr that was mistakenly deposited into his account. This act of genuine trustworthiness has garnered widespread admiration.
Despite his modest income, Ahmedin did not hesitate to return the substantial sum. He reportedly discovered the erroneous deposit while with a friend, and although initially startled, he firmly declared, “Wait, calm down, I don’t want someone else’s right; my religion does not allow it!” He promptly requested the correct account details and returned the full amount.
Ahmedin’s actions serve as a powerful example of the high moral standards and integrity that exist within the country. His decision to uphold honesty even when facing financial constraints offers a significant lesson for many.
Interestingly, the individual who received the returned money did not even offer Ahmedin a token of appreciation, not even for tea, and Ahmedin himself did not ask for anything.
